Diaper Need Awareness Week September 10th – September 17th    2012.  
The purpose of Diaper Need Awareness Week is to recognize that many Americans struggle to provide clean, dry diapers for their children and to recognize the growing number of diaper banks forming to help people obtain the diapers they need.  People who no longer rely on diapers for themselves or their family members often forget about how important diapers are in daily life. We need to remind them that children without clean diapers suffer from diaper rash and other health problems, and that an uncomfortable, wet, crying baby adds avoidable stress on parents struggling to make ends meet.  
Across the country, there will be diaper-need focused events that week, including local area diaper drives, discussion panels on why diapers matter, fundraising events, op-eds in local newspapers and proclamations by governors and mayors declaring the week "Diaper Need Awareness Week."    Please tell us what you plan to do in your community.

Individuals, diaper banks, or corporations can do any of the following in their local community:

• Hold a diaper drive in your area to benefit a local diaper bank or an agency that helps women and children

• Sponsor a fundraising event for your local diaper bank or for the National Diaper Bank Network

Diaper Banks in America Conference will kick off Diaper Need Awareness Week.
The conference will take place on Monday September 10 and will include breakout sessions and group discussions on topics such as Warehousing, Inventory Basics, Fundraising, Grant writing, and other topics.  We will bring in experts in each of these fields to address the group.  There will also be opportunities for diaper banks to network and learn from each other.  Click here to register.
 
On Tuesday September 11th we will host a panel that will feature a panel of policy experts discussing diaper need and its implications for health, economic opportunity, and emotional well-being as well as the larger societal effects.  
 
The conference and panel will be held in the Washington, DC area (exact location, and more details to come) and will both be free of charge.  
NDBN is working diligently to create a nationwide diaper drive, an amazing opportunity for exposure and cross promotion for a national retailer.
