As you get ready for your Summer barbecues and beach vacation, remember that September will be here before you know it, and so will Diaper Need Awareness Week (September 24 – September 30, 2018)! So before you pack your beach bag, consider sending a request to your governor and other elected officials for a proclamation recognizing Diaper Need Awareness Week in your state and all the towns and counties served by your diaper bank.
Diaper Need Awareness Week is a great way to raise awareness of diaper need with your local elected officials and community leaders. Many public officials are not awarethat there is diaper need, let alone diaper banks that work to address this problem.
We have all the information you’ll need
to request a proclamation. You can find the guidelines for CT
in our comprehensive guide
to requesting a proclamation.
You’ll find a template for a cover letter here
. Follow these links for templates for the State Proclamation
request, and the City Proclamation
request. Most states require at least 4 weeks and many require as many as 8 weeks in advance of the date requested. With the unofficial start of summer here, September is just around the corner.
