Awareness

Extend Your Reach

Hashtags, posts and tweets may not always do the job when we need to lobby politicians, but they have helped to inform and mobilize large numbers of people.

Awareness is the first step for mobilization, and little actions do matter when it comes to raising it. Most social media platforms, like Twitter and Facebook, have algorithms that track, follow, and promote the most popular — “trending” — hashtags, bringing pressing social matters to the spotlight.

That is why we encourage you to use the hashtags #DiaperNeed, #EndDiaperNeed and #BasicsArentBasic when discussing our issues on social media.

Tell a Visual Story

Many of our supporters are people that have experienced diaper need at some point in their lives, or can empathize with the financial, mental, and emotional strain it puts on families. Sharing personal anecdotes is an impactful way to spark a conversation about the importance of basic needs on social media. You can also talk about facts on diaper need that many people are unaware of — like how one in two families currently experience diaper need right here in the United States.

They say a picture is worth 1,000 words — and this holds especially true on social networks like Facebook and Instagram. The attention span of online audiences is waning every day. So it is crucial you get your point across as quickly and concisely as possible. Photos and graphics are an easy way to accomplish this. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and use our graphics and videos to make a larger impact!

Partnership and Collaboration

For any given cause there are several organizations that serve a similar purpose. Seeking out groups and organizations with similar causes will enable you to increase overall knowledge of diaper need and to leverage one other’s social networks.

Keep in mind collaborations don’t necessarily need to be done on a large scale. On the contrary, more accessible groups like your local parenting facebook group are great places to start. Educate others on diaper need and its consequences. Encourage your friends and family to talk about it as well. Virtual fundraisers are an excellent way to raise awareness and funds at the same time!

Celebrity and Influencer Endorsements

Easier said than done, but tagging a celebrity, even a local one to raise awareness of diaper need can be far reaching. A post associated with a high profile account will always have higher reach and can attract attention outside of your network. Many of our supporters have had luck tagging their local news anchors and reporters and garnering support that way as well, leading to state wide diaper drives.
